Hey @chickendvm, can you tell me why Becky is so wobbly? She steps on her own feet and constantly wants to sit down. Can you see the calluses forming in her knees? Does she need vitamins? It took the babies 20 minutes to find this melon and another 10 to decide it wasn't a trap. Meanwhile, Vi sensed when purchased it and had been expecting it all afternoon. I had to dig up the Thing I Did Not Plant in the compost pile. I dumped it in an unused corner of the garden, intending to look for the bulb or whatever it sprouted from. I forgot all about it. I guess being uprooted, dumped in a pile, not watered and ignored just encouraged it! Look at all those Things I Did Not Plant spoutlings!

Week 9 chickens are OVER picture day. I don't know if it is because they live in the big coop now or they know they are faster than me or they want to impress the big chickens but they are impossible! I had to hold a couple, some are blurry and we even had retakes. Week 10 is for sure the end. Fast + Aggressive = hold on! Glo Vanderbuilt or #SicilianButtercup? Alejandra didn't feel well yesterday. She had gone to bed early the night before, slept in late and then I caught her sleeping under the feeder before lunch. She wouldn't eat the oatmeal I brought her (Vi was nice enough to handle it for her) and just kind of stood in the corner during playtime. She's much perkier today! I found her on the highest perch early this morning! Yeah, Ali! (Anyone have an opinon on her dew claws? The vet trims them but I don't think she cares.)

I planted some Spinach in the garden about 8 years ago. It has been replanting itself ever since! It is a beautiful vine with red stems and dark green leaves. The berries start green and turn dark purple. Picked small, the leaves are flavorful and tender. It is much more heat tolerant than standard spinach. I highly recommend it!

Here we go! Introducing the babies to the big girls. I moved the protective playpen into the chicken yard and am having supervised meeting time. Turn up the volume and you'll hear Donna Martin having a complete fit from INSIDE THE COOP at the indignity of small chickens in her yard. You can see Violet lumbering around on the outside of the fence making sure these babies aren't getting her treats. So far, so good. We'll see. Any tips on flock integration would be appreciated!

I didn't plant any Butternut Squash this year. It didn't produce last year and I didn't want to dedicate a trellis to it. However, the vine in the compost pile that I didn't plant, water, fertilize or protect from bugs did just fine. So insulting.
