I had to dig up the Thing I Did Not Plant in the compost pile. I dumped it in an unused corner of the garden, intending to look for the bulb or whatever it sprouted from. I forgot all about it. I guess being uprooted, dumped in a pile, not watered and ignored just encouraged it! Look at all those Things I Did Not Plant spoutlings!
